It is situated just 2 Kms off the National Highway 4 Kms off Sakaleshpur which connects Bangalore – Managalore.
Some call it "the
Scotland
of the East”. The region's cool climate and enchanting hilly
terrain is a refreshing change from the mundane. The region boasts some of the
best coffee and cardamom estates. Other specialties of this region include
honey, oranges, pepper and vanilla. Popularly known as the Green Route, it is a sanctuary for nature
lovers. It's home to 1200
species of birds endemic
to Western Ghats found no where else in the world and a trekkers
Paradise.
Places to visit - There's plenty, starting
with
Manjarabad
Fort (1km) a short distance from Prakritik Village. This imposing structure was
constructed by Mysore
monarch Tipu Sultan in 1752, and is based at an altitude of 3,240 ft.
Bisle Ghat - (60km) offers spectacular views of the surrounding mountain ranges. The ghat borders the Bisle Reserve Forest, one of the country's most magnificent rainforests. Its diverse habitat is home to an amazing selection of flora and fauna, making it a must-see for nature lovers. It is also a great place for trekking and bird watching. The forest authorities have constructed several observation points which provide vantage positions to see the reserve's varied bird life, or to simply sit back and enjoy the panoramic view.
